North Shore Language School in New Zealand is registered by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA) 
as a Private Training Establishment under the provisions of the Education Act 1989 and its subsequent amendments. NSLS is signatory to the New Zealand Ministry of Education Code of Practice for the Pastoral Care of International Students.

Summer English Programme

North Shore Language School offers 4 - 12 weeks Intensive English Programs for students who want to learn English as well as experience New Zealand life and Culture!

Here are some of our program's highlights

Homestay: Students will live with New Zealand families while they are studying at NSLS (no more than two students per homestay family).

We select families carefully for their friendliness, their lifestyle, and for the quality and location of their homes. 
New Zealanders have a reputation for hospitality. Homestay families can become your friends for life. 
Homestay includes 3 meals of breakfast, lunch and dinner. 
You will have a comfortable room of your own, with workspace for study. Alternatively we can select a suitable Korean homestay. 
Classes: Students will be divided into classes with 12 students or less each, according to students placement test result including an oral test. 
Classes will run Monday-Friday, total 30 hours per week including activities.

Weekly Schedule

Communication Skills class: 
9:00 am ~ 9:50 a.m. / 10:00 a.m ~ 10:45 am / 11:00 am ~ 11:55 am / 12:00 pm ~ 1:00pm / 1:10pm ~2:00pm / 2:05pm ~ 3:00pm 
Class time: 9.00am to 3pm Monday, Tuesday and Thursday 9.00am to 3pm (18 hours a week)
(6 hours class each day, with a 15-minute break in the middle)

Emphasis on development of speaking and listening skills, with attention to correct pronunciation, vocabulary, and grammar usage. The classes will have various activities requiring student participation, including pair and group discussion activities, problem-solving activities, language games, as well as discussion of excerpts from movies, music, and other authentic English-language materials.

Summer In New Zealand (Wednesday 9:00AM ~ 6:00PM) 
Summer In New Zealand (Friday 9:00AM ~ 6:00PM) (or later in some cases, Korean food provided for dinner on Fridays)

Group activities will allow students to use English that they have learnt in class. Students can experience New Zealand culture outside the classroom, they will have opportunities to interact with New Zealanders, and also have fun! Whenever possible, teachers will tie the content of the lessons to the afternoon activities to follow.

-Presentations in English to New Zealand School children
Students will prepare and present short talks about the culture of their countries to the groups of New Zealand school children. 
The school children will have the opportunities to ask questions to the students about culture of their countries. NSLS teachers will guide the students through the preparation process and also will give feedback on students’ presentation.

-Auckland University Campus Tour
Students will tour the largest University Campus in New Zealand. They will learn about its history, and will look around the facilities.

-Takapuna Intermediate, Westlake Boy’s and Westlake Girl’s High School Campus Tour
Students will tour well-known schools in New Zealand. They will learn NZ Education system and observe the classroom activities and see the facilities.

Auckland Museum Tour
Students will learn about the history of New Zealand. The museum has an art gallery, a great hands-on discovery area, and areas dedicated to science, technology and the New Zealand history.

Shopping Trip
NZ has many great shopping areas. Students will do some activites at Westfield Shopping Mall. Teachers will assign a list of activities that the students should do there (e.g. find out how much a pair of shoes costs). Students will also have free time to visit stores of their choice.

Swimming and Picnic
After picnic lunch, students will enjoy swimming in the afternoon. As New Zealand Summer is hot, going to the swimming pool will be great fun! If it is raining, students will go to see a movie in the afternoon at a local movie theater.

There will be some more other afternoon activities. Additional activities and outings for the weekend may be planned by host families. 

** Deposit per student (applied to tuition): $500 if student applies through authorized agent (or $1000 if not through agent). 
Deposit for each student must be received 15days before the course starts. 
The deposit will be included to the tuition fee. Deposit and the application fee are non-refundable.

- Tuition fee does not include homestay fee, personal transportation, health insurance and airfare. 

North Shore Language School can customize a Summer and Winter English Program package for any group of 10 or more students based on the above program. This package can include different program start dates, lengths and intensiveness (i.e. more or less than 24 hours of classroom English instruction per week).
